Coff's Harbour's Beau Davis is closer than ever to having his own custom car thanks to a massive donation from Coffs Coast Masons. Beau's supporters have been working to raise about $40,000 to have the family car modified to make getting around substantially easier for the youngster. He lives with spastic dystonic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and simple acts like transferring him from his wheelchair to a car seat can cause spasms and seizures. The aim has been to modify the vehicle to allow Beau to remain in his wheelchair. The Royal Freemason's Benevolent Institution and the Coffs Coast Freemason's Association have made a combined donation of $20,000 on Friday 18th April 2014 towards the total - adding to the hard-earned funds raised through a family fun day at Club Coffs and other efforts. Chris Davis accepted the donations on behalf of Beau and said she hoped the car would be modified in the next six weeks. "I just couldn't believe it, I thought it would take 12 months to raise the funds," Chris said. "It will just make his life so much easier."
The Coffs Coast Freemasons Association leapt at the chance of assisting Beau Davis, a young Coffs Harbour boy with severe disabilities including Spastic Dystonic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy Level 5. His family is trying to raise $40,000.00 to modify their Kia Carnival with a wheel chair lift to enable him better to participate in family outings and every day needs. District 53 DGIW, VW Bro Phil Robertson, who is also the Chairman of the CCFA, was pleased to present Chris Davis with a cheque for $1000 at a fundraising event in Coffs Harbour on Sunday 30th March 2014. The CCFA is hoping to offer further assistance to the family in the future.
